Fun Thing Friday! Granny-a-Day Edition.

Friday, April 6th, 2012

Pip is doing another Granny A Day this year and I’m sort of participating. It’s maybe not quite a granny a day, or even every other day, since I’m busy with school and kiddos and lots of other fun stuff, but I’m trying! It would be neat to finish an afghan over the summer so I could have it next fall when it gets chilly out again. I bought lots of yarn to do an afghan from Crocheted Afghans: 25 Throws, Wraps, and Blankets to Crochet last spring but never quite got around to starting it until just now.

So far I can probably keep a foot warm:

Grannies!

The pattern I’m following is small squares of two different flower grannies. The idea is to use different color combinations for each flower and crochet a border around the flowers with the same color yarn.

This one is my favorite so far:

Granny 3

Stack O'Grannies

Aren’t they cute all stacked up?

So thanks, Pip, for the inspiration to get moving on this! =)

Happy Birthday to Meeee!!!

Whew. Busy. School is in full swing and I have too many hobbies haha. So my birthday! It was fun and I am now 36! 36 is a good number because it is evenly divisible by 3, my absolute favorite of all of the numbers, so it will be an awesome year.

I made buttermilk pancakes for breakfast…

And hooked up some grannies…

Pink and green makes me smile.

And then there was dinner. See that pasta there on the table? It is the BEST! Nobody makes noodles like my mom!

Italian Rum Cake. NOM! Have you had this? It is such an amazing combination of cake and pudding and rum and frosting and candied almonds….yum. This one was from Sweetsboro Pastry Shoppe which is the best bakery in South Jersey. Maybe even on Planet Earth.

A rare self-portrait. Yes, I leave the house without makeup. Routinely.

I love this picture of my mom, she’s so pretty! Even when she’s giving Lukester the side-eye.

(It’s amazing how that kid manages to sneak into EVERY photo.)

Fruit flowers!

Saturday Granny Squares

Yay! April has arrived!

This week has been incredibly busy, but I managed to get three granny squares done in three days…

April 3
#86 Sunray

Sunray Granny Square

(Yes…I know…they are all in shadow jail. I also poured half and half on my cereal and put the teakettle away in the fridge. I’m just that tired.)

(The number references the square number in 200 Crochet Blocks for Blankets, Throws, and Afghans: Crochet Squares to Mix and Match. I love this book so much!)

The Dahlia square was definitely my favorite, even though I had to rip out out a few times before I got the hang of where all of those little popcorns were supposed to go. I love love LOVE the popcorn stitch! I want to make a whole blanket of popcorn stitch!

Look!

So…if you’re crocheting along, feel free to use Mister Linky down there…I’d love to see everyone’s squares so far! =)
